The Reds ended their five-game slide in a big way. Brandon Phillips' first-inning homer broke a Reds season mark for second baseman, Joey Votto homered among three hits in his first start, Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-4 and 30-year-old rookie Tom Shearn went six scoreless innings.
