Blanco shines as Mets fall to Nats

Pelfrey allows four homers in fourth Grapefruit League start

Mets at the plate: Henry Blanco was the hitting hero, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Angel Pagan and Mike Pelfrey also picked up RBIs in the game. Chris Carter collected three hits.

Nationals at the plate: Ryan Zimmerman and Josh Willingham hit two home runs and drove in three runs apiece. Willy Taveras also drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mets on the mound: Pelfrey lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up six runs -- five earned. He now has a 7.36 ERA this spring.

Nationals on the mound: Jason Marquis pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out three batters. Craig Stammen allowed two unearned runs and struck out four in four innings.

Worth noting: Marquis threw 90 pitches in Monday's game.

Grapefruit League records: Mets 10-9; Nationals 5-13

Up next: The Nationals travel to Lakeland, Fla., for a rematch with the Tigers at 6:05 p.m. ET. The last time they faced each other was March 9 with Detroit winning the game, 9-4. Left-hander Scott Olsen will make his third start for Washington. Olsen, who threw 86 mph, in a Minor League intrasquad game last week, must show he can get his arm strength back.

The Mets return to Port St. Lucie, Fla., to play the Braves on MLB.TV at 1:10 p.m. Left-hander Oliver Perez will get the start for New York.
