Rough first inning sinks Mets
Adkins gives up grand slam in five-run first inning

Wednesday, March 28 Braves at the plate: After Brayan Pena drove in Atlanta's first run with a single, Jeff Francoeur hit a grand slam. Pete Orr drove in the Braves' run in the fourth. Pena added another RBI in the eighth.
Mets at the plate: Jose Reyes had a hit, two stolen bases, a run and an RBI. Paul Lo Duca drove in a run with a single. Carlos Beltran crushed a double.
Braves on the mound: After walking the bases loaded with none out in the first inning, Kyle Davies allowed two runs. After giving up a third run in the second, he retired nine straight batters.Mets on the mound: The bullpen-on-parade approach didn't work too well. Reliever Jon Adkins allowed five runs in the first, including Francoeur's grand slam, then tossed a scoreless second. Cha Ho Park, making his second relief appearance, allowed one run in two innings before Ambiorix Burgos threw two perfect innings, his best performance of the spring. Pedro Feliciano pitched a perfect seventh.
Grapefruit League records: Braves 17-10; Mets 10-20-1.Up next: The Mets play the Dodgers in Vero Beach, Fla., on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET, with John Maine opposing fellow righty Joe Mays.
The Braves host the Indians in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., at 1:05 p.m., with Tim Hudson making his final exhibition game start. Fausto Carmona will start for Cleveland.
