FLUSHING, N.Y -- The New York Mets and Vidal Cedeño Management today announced that music superstars Oscar D'Leon and Luis Vargas will perform at "Fiesta Latina" this Friday, August 24th at Shea Stadium following the Mets' 7:10 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Oscar D'Leon - a multi-platinum recording artist from Venezuela - began his career with the band "La Dimension Latina" in 1972. He released "FUZIONANDO," his 22nd solo album, in August 2006. Luis Vargas is best known as one of the pioneer artist of bachata, a musical style influenced by merengue. The internationally recognized artist made his mark with hits such as "El Dolor," and "Loco de Amor."
"Fiesta Latina," will include music, dance, and Latin food from various Hispanic countries. The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, will present cultural dances including merengue, salsa, and cumbia. The group will represent various countries with traditional attire and flavorful music that will educate fans over the diversity in New York. The night will also include bilingual PA by Z-100 radio personality, and Nicaraguan-raised Carolina Bermudez. To commemorate "Fiesta Latina" the Mets for the first time in team history will don jerseys with "Los Mets" across their chests.
