FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The New York Mets and The National Needlearts Association today announced that they will host the inaugural Stitch N' Pitch at Shea Stadium on Wednesday, August 8 when the Mets host the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 P.M.

Hundreds of fans will sit together in the stands and knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint and embroider while watching the Mets face their division rivals. Stitch N' Pitch is a program of The National Needlearts Association (TNNA) that brings together and celebrates two American traditions - needlearts and baseball.

"With over a million hits to StitchNPitch.com in its first few months, we knew this program was going to be something special," said Patty Parrish, Executive Director, TNNA. "Stitch N' Pitch is sweeping the Nation. The response from baseball clubs, the needlearts industry and fans is overwhelming. Stitch N' Pitch creates a unique and fun environment for families, singles, couples, old, young, kids, women and yes, even men!"

TNNA is a non-profit trade organization established in 1974 and is dedicated to the advancement and promotion of needlearts through trade shows, educational seminars, special events, public relations and professional programs that continue to meet the needs of the industry.
