Mets place OF Cliff Floyd on DL; purchase Michael Tucker's contract
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

The New York Mets announced Wednesday that they have placed outfielder Cliff Floyd on the 15-Day disabled list with tendinitis of left Achilles and purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Tucker from Triple-A Norfolk of the International League. Tucker will wear uniform No. 22.

Tucker, 35, was hitting .265 (73-for-275) with 44 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 33 RBIs and 10 stolen bases, with 39 walks and 45 strikeouts in 83 games for the Tides.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder batted .158 (6-for-38) with three runs scored, one triple and six RBIs, with four walks and 15 strikeouts in 19 Spring Training contests with the Washington Nationals. Tucker was released by the Nationals on March 30. The Mets signed him to a Minor League contract on April 26.

Michael split the 2005 season between the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. He hit .240 (60-for-250) with 32 runs scored, 16 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 33 RBIs, with 28 walks and 48 strikeouts in 104 contests with the Giants. In addition, Tucker batted .222 (4-for-18) with three RBIs in 22 games with the Phillies.

He has hit .257 (1,036-for-4,027) with 622 runs scored, 204 doubles, 49 triples, 124 home runs and 191 RBIs, with 174 walks and 254 strikeouts in 1,382 major games with the Royals, Braves, Reds, Cubs, Giants and Phillies.
