Omaha lost the series opener in 10 innings. Matt Fields forced extras with his second homer in as many days, a two-out solo shot in the ninth. He recorded two hits, two RBIs and two runs, boosting his average to .303 (36-for-119). Brian Fletcher, Jesus Flores and Carlos Peguero added two hits apiece. Sugar Ray Marimon posted a season-high eight strikeouts while allowing two runs, nine hits and three walks through 6 2/3 innings.

Northwest Arkansas scored in each of the first five innings en route to a second straight win vs. Springfield. Whit Merrifield hit a solo homer in the third and 19th-ranked Royals prospect Cheslor Cuthbert capped the scoring with a two-run shot in the fifth. Andy Ferguson struck out seven without issuing a walk, holding the Cards to two runs (one earned) and six hits over six innings.

Wilmington scored two in the eighth before falling short at home. Daniel Stumpf turned in a quality start, scattering two runs (one earned) and seven hits over six innings. He fanned five and walked one while lowering his ERA to 3.77. Lynchburg's Jarrett Miller struck out 12 Blue Rocks over seven shutout innings. No. 2 Royals prospect Raul Mondesi drove in both runs on a double that scored Cam Gallagher and Mark Donato.
