Marlins giveback to the community on 9/11
Marlins Ayudan team, led by Larry Beinfest, will give back to Salvation Army, LOMO adopts local firehouse, Marlins Park hosts First Responders Appreciation Night
MIAMI - September 10, 2013-Miami Marlins Ayudan team, led by Larry Beinfest, Baseball Operations President, will engage in a community service project at the Salvation Army. Logan Morrison will also be adopting the City of Miami Firehouse #5. Marlins will host First Responders Appreciation Night at Marlins Park. 9/11 is recognized as National Day of Service.
The Marlins Ayudan team will be volunteering their time at the Salvation Army on 1907 NW 38th Street from 9a.m. to 4p.m. The team will engage in a beautification project in the Salvation Army's Courtyard. The project includes landscaping, mulching, and planting of a vegetable garden.
Logan Morrison, Miami Marlins first baseman, will trade his cleats for firefighter boots as he visits the City of Miami Firehouse Station No.5 on 1200 NW 20th Street from 11am to 12pm . Logan will assist in preparing lunch, tour the firehouse, and go on a ride along with Miami's heroes in remembrance of 9/11. Lieutenant Ignatius Carroll will be in attendance as Logan presents them with an autographed jersey.
The Marlins will also celebrate First Responders Appreciation Night as they take on the Atlanta Braves at Marlins Park on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:10 p.m. Fans can show support to the first responders who keep us safe every day by purchasing a Special Event ticket. The package includes access to the pre-game party in West Plaza from 5pm-7pm, a ticket to the game in one of the "Super Heroes" sections. First Responders will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
