Rockies acquire Steven Hensley from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Aaron Harang and cash considerations
The right-handed pitcher is a former fourth round draft selection out of Elon University
The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Steven Hensley from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Aaron Harang and cash considerations.
Hensley, 26, has made seven stops in Seattle's minor league organization most recently beginning the 2013 campaign at Triple-A Tacoma where he made two relief appearances without receiving a decision (2.2 ip, 2 h, 1 r/er). Prior to this year he owned a 30-30 career record with a 4.48 ERA (466.0 ip, 232 er), 178 walks and 374 strikeouts in 121 career minor league games, 72 being starts, which spanned five seasons. The right-hander was originally drafted by the Mariners in the fourth round of the 2008 June draft out of Elon University.
Harang, 34, was acquired on April 6th from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catcher Ramon Hernandez. The 11-year veteran has seen Major League action with four teams, including: Oakland (2002-03), Cincinnati (2003-2010), San Diego (2011) and the Dodgers (2012). In 299 career Major League games, 293 starts, Harang is 105-104 with a 4.19 ERA (1802.0 ip, 839 er), 550 walks and 1,460 strikeouts. The right-hander went 10-10 with a 3.61 ERA (179.2 ip, 72 er) in 31 starts for the Dodgers in 2012.
