Mets recall Takahashi, option Misch

Veteran lefty back from Buffalo for second stint in bullpen

08/24/09 1:22 PM ET

Shuffling left-handers in their bullpen, the Mets on Monday recalled Ken Takahashi from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned Pat Misch to the farm club.

Takahashi, the 40-year-old seasoned pro who served a stint with the Mets earlier this season, is in New York, available for Monday afternoon's game at Citi Field against the Phillies.

Takahashi, who posted an ERA of 3.00 in 15 appearances with the Mets from April 26-June 22, was 1-3 with a 2.38 ERA for the Bisons in 18 games, including seven starts.

Takahashi had become only the third post-1945 player to make his Major League debut at age 40 or older, joining Satchel Paige (42, 1948 Indians) and Diomedes Olivo (41, 1960 Pirates).

Misch went 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 19 games with the Mets.
