In this week's Draft Report, we're going to play "Who's your favorite" Draft pick. Or, to be more precise, it's "Hoosier favorite Draft pick."

TDR hits Indiana University for batterymates who hope to go early on June 9. The pitcher has been a late riser who has passed the Hoosier starter most thought would go first when the season began, while the catcher has a very good bat, though people are unsure about the glove.

The rest of the report is fairly college-heavy, with a pair of bats out in California as well as a starting pitcher from the West Coast. Then there's a report on something never seen before since this system was created: a draft-eligible freshman. Sprinkle one intriguing high school arm on top and you're good to go.

He's actually pitched twice since the last report, throwing seven innings of two-run ball against Utah in his last regular-season start, then giving everyone a scare in the Mountain West Conference tournament when he left in the eighth inning with an apparent back cramp. Think the Nationals will ask for him to be packed in bubble wrap between now and June 9?

His performance a few weeks ago against Michigan -- 6 1/3 IP, eight hits, seven runs (six earned), five walks, seven strikeouts -- wasn't stellar, but he stayed in the game long enough to get the win and did little to dampen a breakout junior season that has seen the right-hander go 11-1 with a 2.78 ERA in 12 starts. He's thrown six complete games and has allowed only 73 hits (.215 batting average against) over 94 innings while walking 34 and striking out 93. Complete Report

Josh Phegley, C
Indiana University
There's little question about the Hoosier backstop's ability to hit, and he showed it in a weekend series against Michigan. Phegley went 6-for-11 with a pair of home runs in that three-game set. For the season, he's batted .354 and slugged .672 with 17 homers and 62 RBIs. Complete Report

Jeff Kobernus, 2B
California
In a down year for college bats, Kobernus stands out as a solid, if unspectacular, option. In a game against UCLA, the second baseman went 3-for-5 with a triple, homer and two RBIs. For the season, Kobernus has hit .351 with a .563 SLG and 17 stolen bases. Complete Report

Angelo Songco, OF
Loyola Marymount
Facing the University of San Diego earlier this month, Songco did what he's been doing all season: hit. He went 6-for-9 with a homer, double and three RBIs over a three-game series. For the year, Loyola Marymount's cleanup hitter has batted .367 with a .691 SLG, thanks to 16 doubles and 15 homers. He's driven in 63 runs in 57 games and has drawn 40 walks while striking out 49 times. Complete Report

Joe Gardner, RHP
UC Santa Barbara
Gardner showed just how effective he can be in a start against Long Beach State. The big right-hander tossed a two-hit shutout, walking one and striking out five. For the season, the UCSB ace has gone 7-1 with a 3.40 ERA in 13 starts. Over 84 2/3 IP, Gardner has allowed 79 hits and 31 walks while striking out 69. Complete Report

The Freshman

Chris Dwyer, LHP
Clemson
The draft-eligible freshman has some intriguing stuff, but it hasn't always led to good results in his first college season. Against Maryland, he went five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out six. For the year, he's 4-4 with a 5.03 ERA. Colton Cain, LHP
Waxahachie High School, Texas
High school lefties like Tyler Matzek, Matthew Purke, also from Texas, and Tyler Skaggs might go before Cain, but that doesn't mean he won't get a lot of interest. He lost a good matchup against Todd Glaesmann in April, 5-4, but still showed some pretty good stuff on the mound. Complete Report
