Pagan arrested for traffic violations

Mets outfielder is in Florida rehabbing elbow surgery

05/08/09 2:12 PM ET

New York Mets outfielder Angel Pagan, who is rehabbing his right elbow at the team's Spring Training complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., has been arrested for several traffic violations in Martin County, Fla., according to a report on TCPalm.com.

Pagan, who had surgery to repair a bone chip in his right elbow during Spring Training, was stopped by Florida Highway State Troopers on Thursday for speeding on Interstate 95. The report cites a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report indicating that during a routine license check, it was discovered that Pagan was driving with a suspended license and had several warrants.

According to the report, Pagan has a valid Arizona license, but a suspended Florida license for not paying a traffic fine on June, 15, 2005 in St. Lucie County, and he has a warrant in Martin County for not appearing in court for the violation.

Pagan hit .275 in 91 at-bats for the Mets last year with seven doubles and 13 RBIs and was battling for a bench spot on the Opening Day roster before undergoing surgery.
