Mets on the mound: Santana, making his second exhibition game start, pitched five innings for the first time, allowing the home run by Diaz in the fifth and one other hit. He walked two and, with his changeup working effectively, struck out seven against a team that had been batting .310.

Up next: The Mets are not scheduled to play an exhibition game Monday. Mike Pelfrey is to make his fifth appearance of the spring Tuesday against the Astros in Kissimmee. The game begins at 1:05 p.m. ET. Left-hander Wandy Rodriguez starts for the Astros.
The Braves are off Monday as well. Their 6:05 p.m. game against the Pirates on Tuesday will bring the return of Chipper Jones, who strained his right oblique muscle in the World Baseball Classic. Javier Vazquez starts for the Braves opposite Ross Ohlendorf.
