Mets ready for historic Spring Training
Club to celebrate 20th anniversary vs. Dodgers in Port St. Lucie

The game, the eighth of the 32 included on the schedule the club released on Saturday, is one of three that the Mets will play against Joe Torre's new team. The teams face each other in Port St. Lucie on March 1 and in Vero Beach the following day. The March 2 game is to be the Mets' final game at Dodgertown, the Spring Training headquarters of the former Brooklyn franchise since the days of Jackie Robinson.
The Mets begin their exhibition season on Feb. 26, against the University of Michigan, the alma mater of owner Fred Wilpon. Their first home game against a big league team is on Leap Year Day, Feb. 29, against the Cardinals. Their first big league exhibition game is on Feb. 27 against the Tigers in Lakeland.
The World Series champion Red Sox visit Port St. Lucie on March 10 and the Mets play the Sox the following day in Ft. Myers. The Mets face the Cardinals and Orioles five times each, the Marlins four times, the Dodgers, Nationals, Indians and Braves three times each and the Astros and Red Sox twice each. They have split squad games scheduled for March 8 and 16.
