Chavez on a tear in winter ball
Major Leaguer among the top hitters in Venezuelan league

The 28-year-old outfielder stole the show in the 2006 National League Championship Series with a memorable over-the-fence catch for the Mets in Game 7 against the eventual World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.
Chavez is showing off his bat in Venezuela, ranking fourth in the league with a .380 batting average and fifth with a .560 slugging percentage. He's also scored 10 runs for the Navegantes del Magallanes, who boast the best record in the playoffs at 11-2.
The rest of the Mets are also enjoying postseason play in various Winter Leagues. Here's a look at their progress:
Venezuelan Winter League
RHP Lino Urdaneta -- Urdaneta has struggled in three postseason appearances with the Cardenales de Lara, giving up four runs on four hits and a walk in two innings.
SS Jose Coronado -- Coronado has yet to play in the postseason for the Navegantes del Magallanes.
Dominican Winter League
2B Anderson Hernandez -- Hernandez remains one of the top hitters in the DWL playoffs. The 24-year-old infielder leads the Tigres del Licey with a .389 batting average and 17 runs scored in 18 games. He also has 10 RBIs and has struck out eight times in 72 at-bats.
