Mets will place David Wright on the 15-day disabled list

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 17, 2011 - The New York Mets today announced that prior to tomorrow night's game, the team will place third baseman David Wright on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to Monday, May 16, with a lower back stress fracture, and will select the contract of infielder Nick Evans from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League. Evans will wear uniform #6.

Wright, 28, underwent a CT scan last night that confirmed an MRI finding that the third baseman has a lower back stress fracture. He will have no baseball activity for 10 days and then be re-evaluated at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Wright is hitting .226 (33-146) with six home runs and 18 RBI in 39 games this season. He last played on May 15 in Houston and went hitless in three at-bats and drew a walk.

Evans, 25, compiled a .248 (25-141) batting average, with five home runs and 16 RBI in 36 games with the Bisons. He hit .306 (11-36) with one home run and five RBI in 20 games with the Mets last season.
