FLUSHING, N.Y., May 4, 2011 - The New York Mets today announced the team has placed righthanded pitcher Pedro Beato on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 2, with tendinitis in his right elbow, and has selected the contract of lefthanded pitcher Mike O'Connor from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League. O'Connor will wear #50 and will be available for tonight's game.

He left the Bisons with an 8.1-inning scoreless streak, dating to April 23 vs. Lehigh Valley. The 6-3, 187-pound native of Dallas, TX last pitched in the majors in 2008 with Washington, where he went 1-1 with a 13.00 ERA (13 earned runs/9.0 innings). O'Connor owns a 4-9 career record and a lifetime ERA of 5.45 (74 earned runs/114.0 innings) in 26 major league games, 21 starts.
