Thirty-five promotion dates highlight 2008 Mets home schedule

FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The New York Mets today announced their thirty-five date promotional schedule with more than 500,000 items for kids, families, and seniors during the final season at historic Shea Stadium.

The Mets unveiled a commemorative Shea Stadium logo in December. This logo will appear on the Mets home jerseys and on the following collectables:

Collectors Cup presented by Premio - The Mets will provide a special collectors cup to the first 25,000 fans on Friday, May 9 when they face the Cincinnati Reds at 7:10 p.m.

Stadium Replica presented by Nathan's - On Saturday, June 14 the first 25,000 fans looking to take home a piece of history will receive a replica model of Shea Stadium when the Mets host the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m.

Build-A-Bear Workshop® Day - The first 12,000 kids 12 and under will receive a one-of-a-kind Mets bear featuring the Shea Stadium Commemorative logo Saturday, July 12 when the Mets host the National League Champion Colorado Rockies at 3:55 p.m.

Baseball T-shirt presented by Gulf - The first 25,000 fans will receive a baseball style t-shirt featuring the Shea Stadium Commemorative logo Sunday, August 24 when the Mets face the Houston Astros at 1:10 p.m.


Lunchbox presented by Verizon Wireless - The first 12,000 kids 12 and under will receive a Mets lunchbox when they face the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, July 27 at 1:10 p.m.

Johan Santana Bobblehead presented by Gold's Horseradish - On Sunday, September 7, the first 12,000 kids 12 and under will receive a two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana Bobblehead before the Mets battle the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10 p.m.

Mr. Met Dash - All kids in attendance will have the opportunity to run the bases at Shea - weather permitting - on the Mr. Met Dash weekend dates throughout the season (Sunday, June 1; Sunday, June 15; Sunday, July 27; Sunday, August 10; and Sunday, September 14).


Citi Field Cap presented by Citi - The first 25,000 fans will receive a limited edition Citi Field Cap on Saturday, April 12 when the Mets face the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:10 p.m.

Senior Stroll - On Thursday, May 15 fans 60 and over can take a leisurely stroll around the bases at Shea following the Mets and Nationals match-up at 1:10 p.m.

Foam Finger presented by The Sports Museum of America - The first 25,000 fans can show off their team spirit when they receive a Mets foam finger on Sunday, April 27 when the Mets host Tom Glavine and the Atlanta Braves at 1:10 p.m.

Cap Trade presented by Chevrolet - Any fan who brings an old cap to the June 27-29 Subway Series games at Shea can exchange that cap for a brand new Mets cap.

Sports Bag presented by Verizon - On Saturday, August 23 the first 25,000 fans will receive a Mets Sports Bag as the Mets face the Houston Astros at 7:10 p.m.


Weather Education Day at Shea - CW11's weather personalities, Mr. G and Linda Church, will guide students in the study of weather patterns and phenomena prior to the Mets 1:10 p.m. start against the Washington Nationals Thursday, May 15.

Merengue Night presented by Chevrolet and Health Plus - The 12th installment of Merengue Night is scheduled for Friday, July 25. A star-studded concert featuring big name artists will follow the 7:10 p.m. game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fiesta Latina presented by Budweiser - A favorite among heritage theme nights, Fiesta Latina celebrates the Hispanic Culture throughout the game and culminates with a post-game concert after the Friday, August 22 game against the Houston Astros beginning at 7:10 p.m., featuring some of the biggest musical acts in Latin music.

Single game tickets for the Mets 2008 season start at $5. The Mets will offer 34 home games - for a total of 700,000 seats - this year which fans can attend for $10 or under.

Sales of Season Tickets, Plans, and Packs for the final season at Shea Stadium have surpassed 2.25 million and are pacing 15% ahead of last year's comparable-to-date sales. Full Season Ticket holders in 2008 will have priority in purchasing Season Tickets at Citi Field, the new Mets ballpark, opening in 2009.

Single game tickets for Opening Day (April 8), the Subway Series at Shea (June 27-29), and the final regular season game at Shea (September 28) sold out during an exclusive online random drawing for tickets that generated in excess of 275,000 registrations. Limited inventory for these five games is still available in Mets Season Tickets, select Ticket Plans, and select Seven Packs. Single game tickets for the remainder of the 2008 final regular season at Shea will go on sale this Sunday, March 9 at 9:00 a.m. on,, at the Mets Ticket Office, at the Mets Clubhouse Shops in Manhattan (42nd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues; the Manhattan Mall at Herald Square) and Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island, and by phone at (718) 507-TIXX.
