Carlos Beltran of the New York Mets named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week

New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltrán, who led the National League with 27 total bases, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for April 16-22, 2007. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the company's long-standing tradition of recognizing achievements that inspire us all to seize opportunities to perform at our very best.

Beltrán's 27 total bases included four doubles, two triples, and two home runs. His 13 hits and nine RBI tied him for second most in the National League. Beltran posted a .448 batting average, a slugging percentage of .931 and a .484 on-base percentage. Beltrán is currently tied with Carlos Lee of the Houston Astros for the NL lead with 19 RBI. This is his fifth overall Player of the Week award and third in the National League, with his last one coming July 24-31, 2006.
