> Equipment Collection Drive - Saturday, August 9
The Mets and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund invite you to support youth baseball and softball by participating in their Annual Equipment Collection Drive on Saturday, August 9, at Shea Stadium.
Fans are asked to bring new or used baseball or softball equipment - gloves, bats, baseballs, helmets - to Shea, which will be collected outside the stadium before the game for the Greater New York Sandlot Athletic Alliance, which serves several amateur baseball organizations.

The Mr. Met Dash, presented by Nestle Drumstick, allows children 12 and under to run the bases at Shea after select games, weather permitting. Children and their parents should go to the Picnic Area gate located near Gate A to line up for the dash.

The master recording of "MEET THE METS" was made on March 1, 1963 and was introduced to the public for the first time on Saturday, March 9, 1963. Music and lyrics for "MEET THE METS" were written by Ruth Roberts and Bill Katz.
